March 22,2024

At 11:04am on March 20, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested two 13-year-old female juveniles.  Each juvenile was charged with Minor Using Tobacco or Vape Device 1st Offense.  Both juveniles were cited and released to their guardians following a report of students with vape pens.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 9:23pm on March 20, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Kimberly Ann Forquer, 29, of Oelwein.  Forquer was arrested on a Scotland County, MO warrant for original charges of Arson 1st Degree - Class B Felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child 2nd Degree - Class A Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place in the 200 block of 8th Ave SE.

 

At 1:15am on March 22, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Nathan Michael Williams, 22, of Oelwein.  Williams was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (LSD) - Class B Felony and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class IV/V Substance) - Class D Felony.  During the arrest Williams received additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW.

March 20,2024

At 6:12pm on March 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Ashley Jean Vanhyfte, 25, of Oelwein.  Vanhyfte was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place in the 400 block of 13th Ave NW following a report of a domestic disturbance.

 

At 6:49pm on March 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Enrique Trujillo Jr., 26, of Oelwein.  Trujillo was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place in the 500 block of Rock Island Rd.

March 13,2024

At 9:35am on March 8, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 13-year-old female juvenile.  The juvenile was charged with Assault (Simple) - Simple Misdemeanor.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court after a formal charge was filed, following an investigation into an incident originally reported on February 29, 2024.

 

At 2:19pm on March 10, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Axel James Fousek, 18, of Oelwein.  Fousek was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree - Class D Felony.  This arrest was made in the 500 block of W Charles St.

 

At 3:45pm on March 11, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Eric Allen Hogan, 19, of Oelwein.  Hogan was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree - Class D Felony.  This arrest was made in the 500 block of Rock Island Rd.

 

At 2:27pm on March 12, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was charged with Minor in Possession of Tobacco or Vape Device 2nd Offense.  The juvenile was cited and released to guardians following a report of a student in possession of a vape pen.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

March 9,2024

At 5:48am on March 9, 2024 Oelwein Police along with Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Jessica Ann Marie Buhr, 32, of Oelwein.  Buhr was charged with Disorderly Conduct (Loud or Raucous Noise) - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE following reports of a disturbance in the 100 block of 1st Ave SE.

March 8,2024

At 4:21pm on March 5, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Dalton James Engelhardt, 25, of Oelwein.  Engelhardt was charged with Driving While License Suspended, and was cited and released following a traffic stop in the 400 block of W Charles St.

 

At 9:21pm on March 6, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Aubree Nanceegail Laura Maytas, 26, of Oelwein.  Maytas was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Theft 4th Degree - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW.

 

At 10:39am on March 7, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Lance Christopher Haar, 30, of Oelwein.  Haar was charged with Interference with Official Acts - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 300 block of 2nd Ave NW, after Haar threatened Officers and refused to obey lawful commands during an investigation of a hit and run accident where Haar was the suspect.

 

At 10:48am on March 7, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Jason Lynn Burkey, 35, of Oelwein.  Burkey was charged with Purchasing/Possessing Depiction of Minor in Sex Act 1st Offense - Class D Felony and Invasion of Privacy - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW following a report of Burkey possessing nude photos of a minor.

March 4,2024

At 8:40pm on March 3, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Meghan Renae Conrad, 24, of Oelwein.  Conrad was arrested on a Fayette County Order of Committal to the County Jail (Mittimus) on an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault - Serious Misdemeanor, for which Conrad was adjudicated guilty in a Fayette County court.  The order of committal requires Conrad to serve two days in the Fayette County Jail.  This arrest took place in the 900 block of 1st Ave NE.

March 3,2024

At 2:32pm on March 2, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested James Daniel Mull, 42, of Oelwein.  Mull was arrested on two Buchanan County warrants for Violation of Parole on an original charge of two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (Methamphetamine) - Class C Felony and Violation of Probation on an original charge of Operating While Under The Influence.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 1st Ave NW.

February 23,2024

At 10:43am on February 22, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 14-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was charged with Minor Using Tobacco or Vape Device 1st Offense.  The juvenile was cited and released to guardians following a report of a student using a vape pen.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 2:27am on February 23, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Caleb Christopher Hughes, 21, of Fayette.  Hughes was charged with Operating While Under The Influence 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 2nd Ave SE.

February 20,2024

At 6:18pm on February 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Crystal Marie Harris, 30, of West Union.  Harris was charged with Driving While License Suspended.  Harris was cited and released following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 6th Ave NE.

 

At 8:22pm on February 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Kassidee Starr Caunt, 31, of Oelwein.  Caunt was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest occurred in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW following a report of a domestic disturbance.

 

At 12:14am on February 20, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Christopher Allan Manning, 36, of Oelwein.  Manning was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for Failure To Appear on an original charge of Driving While License Suspended.  This arrest occurred in the 900 block of 2nd Ave NE.

Release: Multiple Fire Calls on Saturday


Fire Reported at the Mealey Apartments- One Person Rescued


On February 17, 2024 at approximately 10:21 p.m., the Oelwein Police Department and the Oelwein Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a fire on the fourth floor of the Mealey Apartments. Officers arrived and entered the structure within two minutes to assess the scene. Officers discovered smoke on the fourth floor and began going room to room to evacuate the residents. Upon entering the north hallway, officers were met with heavy smoke. Officers called out into a smoke filled apartment and they were able to hear a subject in distress.


Officers crawled into the apartment to search for the person. An incoherent male subject was located and officers worked together to drag the subject out of the apartment and down the hallway to safety. The Oelwein Fire Department quickly ascended the stairwell and contained the fire to a small area within the apartment. MercyOne Ambulance arrived immediately to treat the subject.


The male subject was transported to Oelwein MercyOne by ambulance for treatment. Three Oelwein Police Officers were treated and later released at Oelwein MercyOne for smoke inhalation. The preliminary cause of the fire is believed to be from a subject falling asleep while smoking a cigarette. The Oelwein Fire Department was assisted by the Fairbank Fire Department.

Release: Fire Reported On Porch


At approximately 2:53 p.m. on February 17, 2024, the Oelwein Fire Department responded to a report of a grill on a porch that was on fire at 303 1st Ave NE. Fire members were able to quickly extinguish the fire with minimal damage. The cause of the fire is believed to be from excessive grease.

 


Release: Mutual Aid Response - Field Fire


At approximately 3:52 p.m. on February 17, 2024, the Oelwein Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request to assist the Fairbank Fire Department with a field fire located at 1449 110th Street in Buchanan County. Fairbank Fire crews fought 35 mph winds to successfully contain the fire before reaching nearby structures.
