At 7:10pm on July 9, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested James Martin Crawford, 64, of Oelwein. Crawford was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine - Serious Misdemeanor. Crawford was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor. Crawford was also arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of No Contact Order. These arrests were made in the 2500 block of South Frederick Avenue.
At 9:44 a.m. on July 5th, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Christopher Austin-Tyler White, 28, of Ottawa Lake, WI. White was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air/Blood Flow - Aggravated Misdemeanor. White was also charged with Interference with Official Acts – Simple Misdemeanor This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance at the Otter Creek Cottages.
At around 7:00pm on July 4, 2024, Oelwein Police charged a 16-year-old male with Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor. The juvenile was detained and later released to guardians following a traffic stop in the 500 block of E Charles St. This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
At 2:34pm on July 3, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Kenneth Craig Powers, 44, of Oelwein. Powers was charged with Public Intoxication. This arrest was made in the 100 block of 6th St SW following multiple reports of a male subject acting suspiciously.
At 11:32pm on July 3, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jacob David Snay, 30, of Oelwein. Snay was charged with Driving While License Suspended. Snay was cited and released following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st St SE.
At 4:45 p.m. on July 1st, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jared Michael Richardson, 30, of Oelwein. Richardson was arrested on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault – 2nd offense, a Serious Misdemeanor. Richardson was also given a citation for setting off fireworks within city limits. This arrest occurred after multiple reports of two adults fighting.
At 2:32am on June 29, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Cheryl Ann Stroud, 58, of Oelwein. Stroud was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 10 block of 20th St SE.
At 4:33pm on June 27, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Kayla Marie Westcott, 24, of Westgate. Westcott was arrested on two Buchanan County warrants for original charges of two counts of Depositing or Throwing Litter on Highway. This arrest was made in the 900 block of S Frederick Ave.
On June 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein officers arrested Cole Michael Thompson, age 29, of Oelwein. Thompson was charged with Driving While License Revoked – a Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was the result of a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Rock Island Road.
At 11:50 p.m. on June 21, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested William Jefferson Wilson, 34, of Oelwein. Wilson was arrested on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony, as well as Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 600 block of West Charles.
At 4:37pm on June 20, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Adam James Nielsen, 39, of Oelwein. Nielsen was arrested on two Fayette County warrants for original charges of Compulsory Education Violation 1st Offense and Violations of Truancy Mediation Agreement, both Simple Misdemeanors. This arrest was made in the 700 block of 1st Ave SE.
At 10:30pm on June 20, 2024, Oelwein Police formally charged a 16-year-old male juvenile with Criminal Mischief 4th Degree - Serious Misdemeanor. This charge resulted from an incident that occurred on June 13, 2024, following multiple reports of vehicles with slashed tires. The juvenile's guardians have been notified, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
