At 7:31pm on June 10, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Keilah Nicole Miller, 19, of Oelwein. Miller was arrested on Fayette County warrants for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 100 block of 1st Ave NE.
At 1:51am on June 11, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jaxon Lee Goodwin (aka Braxton Lee May), 19, of Oelwein. Goodwin was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 100 block of 1st Ave SE following reports of a male suspect attempting the sale of narcotics.
At 9:55 pm on June 6, 2024, Oelwein Police formally charged two 15-year-old male juveniles. Each juvenile was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor. These charges followed reports of juveniles throwing rocks at a residence in the 900 block of 2nd Ave NE. The illicit substances were discovered and seized when Officers made contact with the suspected juveniles. The juveniles were released to their guardians and this matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
At 2:36am on June 7, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Kistler Earl Pritchett, 29, of Sumner. Pritchett was charged with Trespassing 1st Offense - Simple Misdemeanor, and was cited and summoned to appear following a report of him trespassing on property in the 100 block of 5th Ave NE.
At 3:02am on June 9, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested William Albert Walenceus, 58, of Oelwein. Walenceus was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 200 block of 6th Ave SW.
At 3:27pm on June 6, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Mellony Jean Harris, 35, of Oelwein. Harris was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of Pre-trial Supervision, on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 900 block of 1st Ave SW.
At 1:12pm on June 5, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jeffery Marcellinus Friis, 60, of Oelwein. Friis was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Violation of Parole. This arrest was made in the Oelwein Police Department lobby where Friis turned themself in.
At 4:53pm on June 5, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Zachary Michael Polete, 31, of Oelwein. Polete was charged with Operating While Under the Influence 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor. This arrest was made at the Oelwein Adult Corrections Office following a report of Polete being observed driving to the office and showing signs of intoxication to the staff.
At 3:49pm on May 31, 2024, Oelwein Police formally charged a 10-year-old female juvenile with Making a False Report to 911 Services - Simple Misdemeanor and Theft 5th Degree - Simple Misdemeanor. These charges were placed after an incident on May 30, 2024, where the juvenile had taken another juvenile's cellphone to make false 911 reports, as well as taking money stored in a pocket on the phone's case. The juvenile was released to their guardians and this matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
At 5:24pm on June 1, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Kayla Cassandra Kesterson, 32, of Oelwein. Kesterson was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Violation of Probation. This arrest was made in the 100 block of W Charles St.
At 7:34pm on June 1, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Isiah Dean Heidt, 26, of Oelwein. Heidt was arrested on a Bremer County warrant for an original charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 10 block of 1st St SW.
At 4:17pm on May 30, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested James Robert Pierce, 52, of Oelwein. Pierce was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or Subsequent Offense - Class D Felony, Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 200 block of 2nd St SE.
At 10:30pm on May 29, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Brent Joseph Thompson, 39, of Oelwein in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue S.E. Thompson was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault causing injury - 1st offense, a Serious Misdemeanor. Thompson was also arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance - 2nd offense an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
At 12:53 p.m. on May 28, 2024, Oelwein police arrested Teegan Mae French, 46, of Oelwein. French was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd Offense- Serious Misdemeanor. French was also charged with Harassment- 1st Degree. This arrest was made following incident that occurred in the 10 block of 4th Avenue N.E.
At 1:09pm on May 27, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jeremiah James Bennett, 43, of Fayette. Bennett was charged with Driving While License Suspended. Bennett was cited and released following an initial report of a minor vehicle accident in the 700 block of 4th Ave SW, police assistance in regard to the accident was declined by both drivers.
At 8:59pm on May 27, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Ronald Eugene Utt, 33, of Oelwein. Utt was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for an original charge of Animal Neglect with Serious Injury or Death - Aggravated Misdemeanor. This arrest was made in the 400 block of 7th Ave SE.
At 12:48am on May 28, 2024, Oelwein police arrested Elia Rayn Rupright, 19, of Oelwein. Rupright was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following multiple reports of a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of 1st Ave NE.
Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 20th St SE and Rock Island Rd at 12:10pm on May 24, 2024. A red Honda Accord driven by Bailey Williams collided with an orange Pontiac G8 driven by Bianca Malone. Initial estimates of damages were $10,000 to the vehicle driven by Williams and $8,000 to the vehicle driven by Malone. Williams was cited with Failure to Yield Entering Through Highway. The Oelwein Police were assisted by Mercy Ambulance and the Oelwein Fire Department.
