On January 8, 2017 at 6:30 a.m., Oelwein Officer performed an equipment violation traffic stop in the 10 block of North Frederick in Oelwein. The officer cited and released Ethan Scott Gray, age 22 of Oelwein for Driving While License Suspended.
On January 7, 2018 at 8:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 100 block of 4th Avenue SE for a reported disturbance. Officers arrested Christopher Michael Potts, age 41 of Oelwein on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor and Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Simple Assault, and Interference with Official Acts, all Simple Misdemeanors.
On January 3, 2018 at 6:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Michael Philip Lewis, age 23 of Hazleton on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia and Driving While License Suspended, both Simple Misdemeanors.
On December 28, 2017 at 4:55 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of N Frederick in Oelwein. After a short pursuit of a suspect, officers did arrest Robert TC Gould, age 37 of Oelwein. Gould was charged with Eluding, Aggravated Misdemeanor; Driving While License Suspended and Reckless Driving, both Simple Misdemeanors, and was given citations for Fraudulent Use of Registration and N Insurance. Gould was also arrested on multiple charges for a Department of Corrections warrant.
Oelwein Police are investigating a Burglary Complaint. Oelwein Police received a report of Burglary, at 7:28 p.m., on December 31, 2017 from the 600 block 7th av ne. This incident remains under investigation
On December 30, 2017 at 2:40 a.m., in the 900 block of N Frederick Avenue, Oelwein Officers arrested Jolene Marie Cole, age 56 of Oelwein on a charge of OWI 1st, a Serious Misdemeanor
On December 27, 2017 at 6:07 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Donald Lee Lathum JR, 40, of Oelwein. Lathum was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault- Simple Misdemeanor. This followed and incident in the 400 block 4th av se.
Oelwein Police are investigating a Theft Complaint. Oelwein Police received a report of Theft, at 9:11 p.m., on December 24, 2017 from the 400 block West Charles. This incident remains under investigation
On December 23, 2017 at 2:14 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Seth Lee Rohrick, 21, of Oelwein. Rohrick was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant on an original charge of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. This arrest came after an officer’s interaction with the subject in the 100 block 4th av ne.
On Monday, December 18th, 2017, members of the Oelwein Police Department paid a visit to the local KMart store. The purpose of this visit was to provide funds to KMart to go towards helping pay off some of the customers Christmas lay-a-way plans. The employees of the Oelwein Police Department raised funds amongst themselves ($715) and asked KMart to apply those funds towards various lay-a-way plans.
"Our staff recognizes that during the holiday season people are trying to provide gifts for their children and loved ones while still paying their bills" advised Chief Jeremy Logan. "It is our hope that this small gesture will provide relief for some. This effort continues our department "Project One" where we believe that One gesture, One effort, One action, One person, One team, One Community can make a difference!"
