On June 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers were advised of a shoplifting in the 1300 block of South Frederick Avenue. Charges are pending after an investigation.
Oelwein Officers on patrol, checked on suspicious activity in the 10 block of 20th St SE on June 25, 2021 at 9:45 p.m.. Officers arrested Zackery Michael Frazer, age 27 of Oelwein on a Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant, with original Oelwein Police Department charges of four counts of Forgery.
On June 22, 2021 at 6:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 700 block of 8th Street SE in Oelwein for a reported physical altercation. Officers arrested Jayden Michael Heidt, age 19 of Oelwein on charges of Assault and Disorderly Conduct, both Simple Misdemeanors.
On June 18, 2021 at 12:30 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 200 block of 8th Avenue SE in Oelwein to assist another agency with an individual who was disorderly and had assaulted multiple individuals. Officers arrested Madison Elizabeth Diamond Walker, age 19 of Oelwein on charges of Criminal Mischief 5th Degree, Public Intoxication, and Interference with Official Acts, all Simple Misdemeanors. Walker was also charged with Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and 4 Counts of Assault on Persons Engaged in Certain Occupations, Serious Misdemeanors.
At 2:00 p.m., on June 18, 2021 Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop at 10th St SE on Outer Road. Officers cited and released Jerry Eldon Swaggerty III, age 19 of Oelwein for Driving While License Suspended. Swaggerty was also cited for No Seat belt. A passenger in the vehicle was also cited for No Seatbelt.
On June 14, 2021 at 6:30 p.m., in the 400 block of East Charles Street, Oelwein Officers arrested Baylee Christine Stammeyer, age 29, of Oelwein, on a charge of Contempt of Court and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both Simple Misdemeanors and Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Also arrested was Elexander Charles Warren Wolf, age 25 of Oelwein, for Violation of a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both Simple Misdemeanors and Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. As a result of a consent search, Officers also obtained a search warrant for the residence. Further charges are pending.
On June 3, 2021, Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 500 block 1st ST SE at 9:28 AM. A gray 2007 Mack driven by Tyler Trumblee struck a Green 2007 Ford Taurus owned by Able Garcia.
On June 3, 2021 Oelwein Police conducted tobacco compliance checks in the Oelwein area at several local businesses. Cited for providing tobacco to minors was Mohameed Ateeq, of Dubuque. These checks are a part of the Iowa I-PLEDGE Tobacco Enforcement and Training Program. The overall goal of this program is to increase voluntary compliance with the state's tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor product laws through education and enforcement.
On June 4, 2021 at 8:44 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 3rdvAV SE for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation
On May 31, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of 4th Avenue SE. Officers arrested Austin Ray Sullivan, age 19 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Revoked and Failure to Refile SR22 Insurance. Sullivan was also cited for Speed and No Insurance.
On May 30, 2021 at 3:37 P.M, Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block 1st AV NW for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation
On May 21, 2021 at 4:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 1st St and 3rd Av SE. A black 2003 Honda Motorcycle, driven by Travis Wade Entrekin, traveling westbound through the intersection, failed to yield and struck the driver's side rear of a white 2017 Kia Forte, driven by Payton Ann Arndt. Yield signs are posted for east-west traffic only. Officers determined that this accident was caused by this Failure to Yield by Mr. Entrekin, who was also found to have No Valid Iowa Driver's License and No Insurance. Entrekin will be cited for all three violations.
On May 29, 2021 at 3:37 P.M, Oelwein Officers were called to the 1200 block South Frederick for a reported Burglary. This incident remains under investigation
Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 600 block 7th AV SE at 9:07 P.M., on March 29, 2021. A blue 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Madison Henry and driven by a juvenile male struck a blue 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Mary Thomas and a gray 2017 Ford Escape owned by Bradley Schmitt. During the investigation Oelwein Police arrested Madison Kayte Henry, 18 of Readlyn. Henry was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Two juveniles were also taken into custody and will be refered to Juvenile Court Services on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Investigation continues and charges are pending against the male juvenile driver of the Jeep.
