At 7:10pm on May 8th, 2026, Oelwein Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 7th Ave NE.  As a result, Tristen Cole Stewart, 30, of Oelwein, was charged with Driving While License Suspended.  Stewart was issued a citation and summons to court for the infraction.

At 11:45pm on May 8th, 2026, Oelwein Police arrested Desarae Lafaye Harris, 29, of Waterloo.  Harris was arrested on a charge of Violation of No Contact Order - Simple Misdemeanor, following an investigation into an incident that concluded in the 100 block of 5th Ave SE.

On May 4, 2026, at 10:02pm, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 1st St Sw. As a result of this traffic stop, Tia Corynn Olson, 24, of Oelwein, was cited and released for Driving While License Suspended.

At around 8:00pm on April 30, 2026, Oelwein Police conducted a traffic stop in the 10 block of S Frederick Ave.  As a result, Jerry Wendel Bass, 53, of Garrison, was charged with Driving While License Suspended.  Bass was issued a citation and summons to court for the offense, along with a citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability and an Equipment Repair Order for faulty brake lights.

On April 28, 2026, Oelwein Officers received a report of Illegally dumped items at the recycle containers at the Oelwein Public Works site. As a result of the investigation, on April 29, 2026, Anna Kathryn Garlow, 48, of Lamont, was charged with Unlawful Disposal upon Public Property. Garlow was issued a summons to court for this matter with occurred on April 27, 2026.  

At 9:30am on April 24, 2026, Oelwein Police charged Allen Griffith Jr., 48, of Oelwein, with Unlawful Disposal upon Public Property.  Griffith was issued a summons to court for the infraction, which originally occurred on April 7, 2026, in the 400 block of 7th Ave SW.

At 6:35pm on April 24, 2026, Oelwein Police responded to a vehicle versus trailer accident in the 900 block of 1st Ave NE.  A black 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by Joshua James Tafolla, 38, of Independence, was driving northbound on 1st Ave NE when it veered to the right and struck a parked construction trailer owned by Melvin Gingrich Construction of Hazleton.  Initial estimates of damages were $5,000 to the vehicle driven by Tafolla and $500 to the trailer.  Tafolla was assigned fault for the accident.  Oelwein Police were assisted by Midwest Collision and Towing.

At 1:36pm on April 22, 2026, Oelwein Police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of 1st Ave SE resulting in the driver, Maryanne Huffman, 57, of Oelwein, being charged with Driving While License Suspended.  Huffman was issued a citation and summons to court for the infraction, and was issued an additional citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.

On April 20, 2026, at 5:32pm, Oelwein Officers arrested Ryan Austin Bonefas, 26, of Oelwein. Bonefas was placed into custody and charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous weapon – Aggravated Misdemeanor,  after a report of a vehicle deliberately driving over the sidewalk and nearly striking another subject. This incident took place in the 10 block of 1st Ave Se.

On April 18, 2026, at 7:02pm, Oelwein Officers responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance in an establishment in the 100 block of West Charles Street. As a result of their investigation, officers arrested Jaevon Tramere Guyton, 31, of Waterloo, for Public Intoxication – Simple Misdemeanor.

At around 9:00pm on April 16, 2026, Oelwein Police responded to the 100 block of West Charles St for multiple reports of a fight in progress.  As a result, the following three individuals were each charged with Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violence) - Simple Misdemeanor:  Andrew Joseph Hoofnagle, 49, of Oelwein; Dustin John Moser, 38, of Oelwein; and Caleb, James Gildard, 34, of Oelwein.  All individuals were issued a summons to court for these offenses.

At 11:22pm on April 13, 2026, Oelwein Police arrested Scott Eugene Adair, 50, of Cedar Rapids, after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 2500 block of S Frederick Ave.  Adair was charged with Public Intoxication - Simple Misdemeanor.
