December 20,2023

At 7:04pm on December 17, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Rodney Leonard Tafolla, 55, of Oelwein.  Tafolla was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault 1st Offense - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrested occurred following an assault that was reported in the 300 block of 8th Ave SW.

 

At 11:15pm on December 17, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Anthony James Taylor, 41, of Oelwein.  Taylor was arrested on multiple Fayette County warrants for original charges of Burglary 1st Degree - Class B Felony, Robbery 1st Degree - Class B Felony, Assault While Participating in a Felony - Class D Felony, Theft 3rd Degree - Aggravated Misdemeanor, and Violation of a No Contact Order - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrested took place in the 100 block of 3rd Ave NW.

December 13,2023

On December 12, 2023 at 11:55 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 300 block of 4th St NW with Steven Michael Jones, aged 52, of Cresco. Subsequently, Jones was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Probation Violation, Felony Bench, with an original charge of Contempt of Court.  Jones was transported to the Fayette County Jail.

 

Officers arrested Michael Wayne Forbes, aged 53 of Postville, on a Buchanan County warrant for Failure to Appear in court for Possession of Controlled Substance charges.  Forbes was arrested in the 300 block of 7th Avenue SW on December 13, 2023 at 12:30 a.m., and custody was given to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.

 

 

December 12,2023

At 7:59am on December 11, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Adam James Nielsen, 38, of Oelwein.  Nielsen was arrested for Violation of a No Contact Order - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 700 block of 1st Ave SE following a citizen's report of the violation.

 

At 12:21pm on December 11, 2023 Oelwein Police along with Iowa State Patrol arrested Jeffery Ryan Wilson, 36, of Oelwein.  Wilson was arrested on a Federal warrant for an original charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 2nd St NW.

 

At 12:39am on December 12, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Joseph Glenn Kane, 25, of Maynard.  Kane was arrested on a charge of Driving While Barred.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 100 block of 6th Ave SW.

December 10,2023

At 2:47pm on December 9, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Gene Maurice Shay, 41, of Oelwein and Nancy Sheree Latham, 44, of Oelwein. 

 

Shay was arrested on multiple Fayette County warrants for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or Subsequent Offense - Class D Felony, Accessory After the Fact - Aggravated Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor, and Driving with an Open Container.

 

Latham was arrested on multiple Fayette County warrants for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs - Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor.  During the arrest Latham received an additional charge of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs.

 

These arrests were made in the 2000 block of Outer Rd.

 

 

At 10:50pm on December 9, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Brandi Joanne Johnson, 28, of Oelwein.  Johnson was arrested on two Buchanan County warrants for original charges of Burglary 2nd Degree - Class C Felony and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 600 block of W Charles.

December 8,2023

Northeast Search Warrant Executed - Arrests Made
 
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of 1st Street NE, in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. Police seized in excess of one pound of heroin, in addition to other controlled substances. The following subjects have been arrested and charged:
 
1)Cody Mason Skidmore 33, of Oelwein:
Possession with intent to deliver Heroin over 100 grams- B Felony
Intent to manufacture/deliver Psilocybin Mushrooms- C Felony
Failure to Affix Drug tax Stamp- Heroin- D Felony
Failure to Affix Drug tax Stamp- Psilocybin- D Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or sub-Marijuana- D Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or sub-Cocaine D Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Simple Misdemeanor
 
2)Mariah Sue Meier 31, of Oelwein:
Possession with intent to deliver Heroin over 100 grams- B Felony
Intent to manufacture/deliver Psilocybin Mushrooms- C Felony
Failure to Affix Drug tax Stamp- Heroin- D Felony
Failure to Affix Drug tax Stamp- Psilocybin- D Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance Marijuana 1st- Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Simple Misdemeanor
The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending.

December 6,2023

At 1:25 pm on December 5, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile who turned themselves in at the police station.  The juvenile was arrested on a Fayette County Juvenile Detention Order for original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner's Consent and two counts of Disorderly Conduct.

 

Oelwein Police have concluded an investigation and have arrested Jennifer Lynn Williams, 35, of Oelwein and Todd Allen Johnson, 44, of Oelwein.  Williams and Johnson were arrested in the 200 block of 4th Ave SE at 4:38 pm on December 5, 2023.  Both were charged with Theft 1st Degree - Class C Felony.  The original incident was reported to police on October 19, 2023.

 

At 8:24 pm on December 5, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was arrested on a Fayette County Juvenile Detention Order for an original charge of Violation of a Court Order.  During the arrest the juvenile received additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor.   This arrest happened in the 100 block of 7th Ave NW.

December 2,2023

On December 1, 2023 at 11:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers observed three vehicles driving recklessly in the downtown Oelwein Area.  Officers stopped the vehicles in the 10 block of West Charles.  Selena Rose Tafolla, 18 years old, and two 17 year old males, all of Oelwein were cited and released for Drag Racing, and Reckless Driving, as well as multiple incidents of Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices.

December 1,2023

At 1:20pm on November 28, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was arrested on a charge of Interference with Devices, Signs, or Signals - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a report of possible vandalism in the 300 block of 5th St NE.

 

At 10:45pm on November 29, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Madix James Meyer, 19, of Oelwein.  Meyer was arrested on a charge of Driving While License Suspended.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 100 block of S Frederick Ave.

 

At 11:13pm on November 30, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Jade Marie McAllister, 38, of Oelwein.  McAllister was arrested on a charge of Operating While Under the Influence, 2nd Offense - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following reports of a reckless driver who crashed into a tree.

 

At 1:34am on December 1, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Anne Pauline Moser, 53, of Oelwein.  Moser was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury, 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made after a disturbance was reported in the 800 block of 1st St SW.

November 26,2023

At 3:36am on November 25, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Payton Errol Martin, 30, of Mason City.  Martin was arrested on a charge of Driving While License Suspended.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Steele Dr.

November 22,2023

At 5:46am on November 19, 2023 Oelwein Police arrested Daniel Joseph Hartney, 28, of Oelwein.  Hartney was arrested on a charge of Driving While License Suspended, as well as two Fayette County warrants for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Methamphetamine) - Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Offense (Cannabid Oil), and Theft 5th Degree - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest occurred following a traffic stop in the 1800 block of R Ave.
