On August 29, 2025, at approximately 2:00pm, Oelwein Police charged a female with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Product 1st Offense. The subject was issued a citation for the infraction following a report of a student possessing a tobacco product at the high school.
At approximately 9:30pm, Oelwein Officers arrested Sandra Louise McMurrin, 36, of Oelwein. McMurrin was arrested on 4 Fayette County Warrants. They are as followed, Theft – Fifth Degree Against an Older Individual, Littering X 2, and Driving While Suspended X 2. McMurrin was placed into custody in the 900 block of 2nd Ave NE.
At approximately 3:30pm on August 28, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Timothy Parrish, 64, of Oelwein. Parrish was charged with 23 counts of Control of a Firearm by Felon - Class D Felony. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 6th Ave NE, in which officers observed multiple firearms in plain view inside the vehicle upon making contact with Parrish.
At 9:55pm on August 28, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Kistler Earl Pritchett, 31, of Sumner. Pritchett was charged with Trespassing 1st Offense - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following reports of a disturbance in the 100 block of 5th Ave NE.
At 8:23am on August 27, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Barbara Sue Shaffer, 56, of Oelwein. Shaffer was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor, Operating a Vehicle Without Interlock Device - Simple Misdemeanor, and Driving While License Suspended. This arrest was made following a report of suspicious activity in the area of 20th St SE and S Frederick Ave.
At 6:57pm on August 27, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Nathan Michael Williams, 37, of Oelwein. Williams was charged with Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor following a traffic stop in the 1 block of 1st Ave SE.
At 12:15am on August 26, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Daniel Warren Wrice, 61, of Oelwein. Wrice was charged with Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor, with the arrest being made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE.
At 1:03pm on August 26, 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 16-year-old male juvenile with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Product 3rd or Subsequent Offense. The juvenile was issued a citation for the infraction following a report of a student possessing a tobacco product at the high school.
On August 24, 2025, Oelwein Officers arrested Tyler Allen Hoover, 18, of Oelwein. Hoover was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant – original charge – Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. Hoover was taken into custody in the 500 block of Rock Island Rd.
At 12:07pm on August 22, 2025, Oelwein Police responded to a report of underage drinking occurring in the 2100 block of S Frederick Ave, leading to two individuals being charged. Tamara Cleo Bathke, 19, of Oelwein was issued a citation and court summons for Possession of Alcohol by Underage Person 1st Offense - Simple Misdemeanor. The second individual, a 16-year-old male juvenile, was issued a citation and court summons for Possession of Alcohol by Underage Person 2nd Offense - Simple Misdemeanor. The juvenile was released to their guardian and has been referred to Juvenile Court.
At 12:01pm on August 21, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of 1st Ave SE. A silver 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Zoey Rhea collided with a white 2022 Ford F150 driven by Joseph Lawson. Initial estimates of damages were $4,000 to the vehicle driven by Rhea and $6,000 to the vehicle driven by Lawson. Rhea was assigned fault for the accident, after it was determined the collision was caused by Rhea failing to notice Lawson's vehicle when attempting to change lanes.
At 9:00pm on August 21, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Marianna Lynae Hardnett, 25, of Oelwein, and Camille Mae Doty, 26, of Oelwein. Hardnett was charged with Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violent Behavior) - Simple Misdemeanor. Doty was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violent Behavior) - Simple Misdemeanor. These arrests were made following reports of fighting in the area of 1st Ave NW and 4th St NW.
On August 20, 2025, at approximately 9:50pm, Oelwein Officers arrested Anthony Harold Todd, 65, of Oelwein. Todd was arrested in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE on a Fayette County Warrant for Probation Violation.
On August 19, 2025, at approximately 12:54am, Oelwein Officers arrested Harold Barta Clayton, 55, of Jesup Iowa. Clayton was arrested on charges of Controlled Substance Violation – Class C Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest took place in the 1400 block of Rock Island Road following a traffic stop.
At 9:13pm on August 18, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Anthony Harold Todd, 65, of Oelwein, with Open Container in a Motor Vehicle (Driver) and Littering. Todd was issued citations and summons to court for these infractions following reports of a suspicious individual loitering in a parking lot in the 100 block of 2nd St SE.
