The Oelwein Police Department and the Oelwein Husky Boys Basketball Team up to Beautify Park

The Oelwein Police Department and the Oelwein Husky Boys Basketball team partnered to beautify trees and the monument sign at the Oelwein Veteran's Sports Complex. The members took time to mulch the trees between the baseball diamonds as well as spreading mulch around the Veteran's Complex monument sign.
"We instill in our student athletes the need for being good servants of the community and teamwork. This effort, in teaming up with the Oelwein Police Department, carries forward that philosophy" stated Husky Basketball Coach Nick Schauf.
"This project furthers our "One" mission.  It is our intent to show others that if each of us gives a little of our time, a lot can be accomplished" advised Chief Jeremy Logan. "It is our desire to show that one action, one effort, one gesture, one team, one community or one person can make a difference. It could be one person taking the time to pick up litter, paint a fence or rail, trim trees or a group of people teaming up to accomplish that or greater; it truly makes a difference."
Also providing assistance was the great people at Corner Market. They provided the necessary equipment to streamline this effort.
