Oelwein Police File Charges

 

The Oelwein Police Department has completed a six month investigation into reports of alleged sexual abuse of children. The reported acts occurred in 2015 and were discovered through the course of another investigation. The reported acts involve children all under the age of twelve (12) years old, in which the children were confined from escape and sexually assaulted.

Roger Allen Kline, age 52, of Hawkeye; has been charged with:

 

  1. 3 counts of Kidnapping First Degree Class A Felony
  2. 3 counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree Class B Felony

 

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Mr. Kline. Kline was arrested, in Hawkeye, by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and he is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

 

The Oelwein Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Muscatine Police Department, the Iowa Department of Human Services, the Fayette County Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Iowa Attorney General.

April 12, 2018

On April 12, 2018 at 11:13 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Quenten William Schweer, 22, of Lawler, Schweer was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant for a parole violation on the original charges of Failure to Affix drug tax Stamp and Child Endangerment as well as a Chickasaw County Warrant for Harboring an Escapee.  This arrest followed officer’s interaction with the subject in the 1500 block of South Frederick.

April 11,2018

On April 9, 2018 at 4:05 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 700 block of 1st St SE. Officers cited Tina Marie Pitts, age 31 of Oelwein for Driving While License Suspended.  Pitts was also cited for No Insurance and Driving a Non Registered Vehicle,

 

Officers were called to an incident in the 500 block of 1st Avenue NE on April 10, 2018 at 6:40 p.m.  One male involved was found to have 2 warrants out of Rock Island County.  Officers arrested Juan Lozano Jr, age 18, of Oelwein for Failure to Appear for Obstruction of Justice and Failure to Appear for Delivery of Meth.  Lozano Jr was arrested in the 100 block of 5th Street NE.

 

On April 11, 2018 at 2:25 p.m., a dispute in the 300 block of 4.5 St SW was reported to the Oelwein Police Department.  Officers arrested Mecktisha Jane Hagar, age 30 of Oelwein on a charge of Burglary 1st Degree, a Class "B" Felony.

 

On April 12, 2018 at 5:00 a.m., Officers took a report of an attempted burglary in the 2500 block of South Frederick Avenue.  A report was taken and this incident remains under investigation.

April 9, 2018

Arrests Made in Connection to Vehicle Thefts and Burglaries

 

The Oelwein Police Department has made arrests in connection to the recent string of motor vehicle thefts and burglaries. In addition to the various incidents that occurred in Oelwein, the department also was able to connect the individuals to two motor vehicle thefts that occurred in Hazleton. On April 8th, the Oelwein Police Department arrested Jordan Michael Cornwell (18), of Oelwein, and a 15 year old male, also of Oelwein. As a result of the investigation,  officers were able to recover a large amount of stolen property. 

 

Cornwell has been charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent (aggravated misdemeanor) and four counts of third degree burglary (Class D Felony), more charges are pending. Cornwell is in custody pending an initial appearance.

 

The 15 year old juvenile is being charged with multiple counts of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, along with multiple counts of third degree burglary. The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents pending further court action.

 

The Oelwein Police Department asks for the public's patience as they continue to process and return the recovered stolen property. 

 

April 8, 2018

On April 8, 2018 at 8:47 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a Criminal Mischief in the 10 block of 6th AV SE in Oelwein.  A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in at the intersection of 3rd ST NE and 5th AV NE on April 8, 2018 at 12:55 p.m.  Officers cited and released James Lawrence Meike, age 38 of Oelwein for Driving While License Suspended.  Meike was also given an Equipment Repair Order for a faulty brake lamp on his vehicle

April 4, 2018

On April 4, 2018 at 8:30 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Daniel Warren Wrice, 54, of Oelwein. Wrice was arrested and charged with Driving While License Barred-Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed previous incident in the 10 block E Charles Street.

On April 4, 2018 at 11:02 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Malenda Faye Mcclurg, 34, of Oelwein Mcclurg was arrested and charged with Theft 5th Degree- Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed and incident in the 100 block of South Frederick AV.

On April 4, 2018 at 09:13 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a Theft in the 100 block of 1st ST SE in Oelwein.  A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

April 3, 018

On April 3, 2018 at 09:55 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a Theft in the 100 block of 8th AV NE in Oelwein.  A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

 On April 3, 2018 at 2:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Jennifer Lauren Hall, 32, of Oelwein. Hall was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended-Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed a traffic stop in the 10 block 1st AV SW.

April 2, 2018

At 10:16 p.m., on April 2, 2018 Oelwein Police arrested Jeremiah Charles Gordon Main, 18, of Oelwein.  Main was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree- Class D Felony, Trespassing- Simple Misdemeanor and Criminal Mischief- Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed an incident in the 10 block of 2nd ST NW.

April 1, 2018

At 2:06am, on April 1, 2018 Oelwein Police arrested Timothy Joseph Gunningham, 32, of Oelwein.  Gunningham was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault -Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed an incident in the 10 block of 4th ST NW.

 

On April 1, 2018 at 10:03 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a Burglary in the 10 block of Hillside Drive in Oelwein.  A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

 

On April 1, 2018 at 12:35 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a theft in the 10 block of Hillside Drive in Oelwein.  A report was taken and the incident remains under investigation.

March 30, 2018

On March 30, 2018 at 1:29 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Zachary Allen Smith, 33, of Oelwein.  Smith was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant on an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury.  This arrest followed an earlier incident in the 800 block 1st AV NE.

 On March 30, 2018 at 3:15 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Justin Kyle Greene 24, of Oelwein.  Greene was arrested on 2 Fayette County Warrant: 1st warrant is for a Probation Violation on original charge of Prohibited acts and the second warrant is for a Probation Violation warrant on an original charge of Prohibited Acts.  This arrest followed an officer’s interaction at the intersection of E Charles and 4th AV NE.

 On March 30 2018 at 8:57 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Renee Marie McDonald, 58, of Vinton.  McDonald was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault- Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block 3rd AV SE
