On June 26, 2019 at 10:04 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Dillon John Sommerfelt, 32 of Oelwein. Sommerfelt was arrested on a Buchanan County Warrant for Assault. Also arrested was Brooke Renee Sommerfelt, 29 of Oelwein. Sommerfelt was arrested on 2 Buchanan County Warrants, the first was for Assault with Injury and the second was for Interference with Official Acts. These arrest followed officer’s interaction with the subjects in the 300 block 1st AV NW.

On June 25, 2019 at 2:27 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block North Frederick in Oelwein. Officers cited Ronald Charles Imhoff, age 47 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On June 25, 2019 at 4:45 PM Oelwein Police arrested Aaron Andrew Schmitt, age 27 of Independence. Schmitt was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Serious Misdemeanor and Violation of a No Contact order- Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed a traffic stop in the 1900 block of South Frederick.

On June 16, 2019 at 12:45 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Herrera, Jason Jesse Dean, 38, of Oelwein; Herrera was arrested and charged with Assault on Persons Engaged in Certain Occupations-Serious Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 10 block 3rd AV SE
On June 16, 2019 at 6:12 p.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to 900 block South Frederick for a reported Burglary. This incident remains under investigation.

On June 9, 2019 at 9:15 p.m., Oelwein Officers cited Lowell Douglas Latham, age 60 for Failure to Abate as Ordered on a property in the 500 block of 4th St SW.
On May 25, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers took a report of an assault which had occurred in the 100 block of South Frederick Avenue. After an investigation, on June 9, 2019, Officers arrested Mark Eubanks, age 33 of Oelwein on a charge of Assault-Simple Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop on June 10, 2019 at 9:20 a.m., in the 1900 block of Hwy 150 South. Officers arrested Dereak Chance Higdon, age 27, of Independence for a BCSO warrant for Failure to Appear for Disorderly Conduct. Higdon was also arrested on Oelwein Police Department charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. The driver of the vehicle, Angela Lee Kaplan, age 21 of Independence, was Cited for Driving While License Suspended.
On June 10, 2019 at 4:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 100 block of East Hillside Drive, in Oelwein for a reported disturbance. Officers arrested Benjamin Donald Jensen, age 23 of Oelwien, on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.
