At 3:08 p.m. on March 24th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Michael Jaquan Jones Jr, 23, of Waukon. Jones was arrested in the 400 block of 13th Ave NW on a Clayton County warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Probation Violation.

March 21,2022

At 12:06 a.m. on March 21st, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Sarah Jayne Moore, 32, of Oelwein. Moore was arrested on a charge of Assault on Person in Certain Occupations - serious misdemeanor (3 counts). This arrest was made after a report of a suspicious person in the 900 block of 1st St NW in Oelwein.

 

At 1:10 p.m. on March 21st, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Miranda Rose Baillargeon, 36, of Oelwein. Baillargeon was arrested on a charge of Unauthorized Use of Credit Card - aggravated Misdemeanor (4 counts), Assault Causing Bodily Injury - serious misdemeanor, and Assault - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made after a report of a suspicious person in the 400 block of South Frederick Ave in Oelwein.

 

At 6:39 p.m. on March 21st, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Andrea Fayth Griffiths, 32, of Oelwein. Griffiths was arrested in the 900 block of North Frederick Ave on a Buchanan County warrant for Failure to Appear for Revocation Hearing.

 

 

March 20,2022

At 7:15 p.m. on March 20th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Brady Leland Woodward, 23, of Oelwein. Woodward was arrested in the 400 block of West Charles on a Fayette Co warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Driving While License Suspended. 

March 19,2022

At 8:34 p.m. on March 19th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Lucas Doyle Bennett, 30, of Oelwein. Bennett was arrested in the 800 block of North Frederick Ave on a Fayette Co warrant for Theft 3rd degree. Bennett was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substance - 2nd offense.

SUBJECT: Open Burning Dates Set
Per Oelwein City Ordinance 16-80, the open burning dates for inside the Oelwein City limits
are set to start at 8:00 a.m. on March 22, 2022. The final date for the spring open burning will be
May 15, 2022. The open burning has the following restrictions:
1) Time Restriction: Burning shall be allowed only on specific days, between 8:00 A.M. and 9:00
P.M., and under favorable atmospheric conditions or local circumstances designated by the
Public Safety Chief or the Fire Chief and said fire does not create a nuisance, health or safety
hazard.
2) Location: No burning shall be allowed within fifty (50) feet of any structure unless the landscape
waste pile is three (3) feet or less in diameter and two (2) feet or less in height, in which case the
separation distance shall be a minimum of twenty-five (25) feet from the structure.
3) Attendance: All fire shall be constantly attended by a person who shall assume responsibility for
the burning. A garden hose connected to a water supply or other approved fire-extinguishing
equipment must readily available at the burning site.
4) Ordered Discontinuance: The Public Safety Chief, the Fire Chief, or his/her designee, is
authorized to order the cessation of the burning if smoke emissions create a nuisance or safety
hazard.
5) Landscape waste: The disposal by open burning of landscape waste originating on the premises
during the designated burning seasons each year, provided such burning is conducted in
accordance with the above rules.
6) Recreational fires: Open fires for cooking, heating, recreation and ceremonies, provided they
comply with the limits for emission of visible air contaminants established by the Iowa
Department of Natural Resources. Rubber or plastic materials shall not be burned in a
recreational fire.
Persons are not allowed to burn garbage, construction materials, etc...
If burning is not possible, the Oelwein Yard Waste Disposal Site is open. It's located at the intersection
of 4th Street SW and 7th Avenue SW. The site is open 7 days a week. Only natural yard waste is
allowed to be dropped off, which includes leaves, grass trimmings, brush, garden waste, and tree
branches.

March 16,2022

On March 16, 2022 at 1:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the area of the 10 block of 3rd Street NW in Oelwein for a reported individual attempting to make entry into residences in the area.  Officers located and arrested Nathan Gabriel Kirby, age 35 of Oelwein.  Kirby is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, a Felony, 3 Counts of Trespass and Public Intoxication, Simple Misdemeanors.

March 14,2022

On March 14, 2022 at 7:40 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Thomas Daniel Wilds, age 27, of Oelwein, on a charge of Violation of a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order.  This charge is a Simple Misdemeanor.  

 

Oelwein Officers, on March 14, 2022, arrested Rick Alan Butterfield, age 50, of Oelwein for a Buchanan County Sheriff's Office warrant with original charges of Theft.  

 

 

March 8,2022

At 7:39 p.m. on March 8th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Kyle Robert Hundorf, 27, of Oelwein. Hundorf was arrested in the 500 block of Rock Island Road on a Clayton County warrant for Failure to Appear to serve sentenced time. 

 

At 9:22 p.m. on March 8th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Robert Joseph Rinella Jr., 30, of Oelwein. Rinella was arrested in the 400 block of 13th Ave NE on Fayette County warrants for Escape from Custody, and Violation of Probation x2. Rinella was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substance - serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - simple misdemeanor. 

March 5,2022

Oelwein Police received a report of a theft of motor vehicle at 10:10 p.m. on March 5th, 2022 from the 10 block of 5th Ave NE. The vehicle was a blue 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The vehicle was later recovered in Blackhawk County and Jaylani Devin Whiteside, 37, of Elgin was charged with Theft 2nd Degree - Felony. 

March 4,2022

At 12:27 p.m. on March 4th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Zachary Neal Moser, 32, of Waverly. Moser was arrested in the 1200 block of South Frederick Ave on a Fayette County warrant for Failure to Appear on 2 counts of Violation of No Contact Order.

 

At 5:31 p.m. on March 4th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Ian Nathaniel Morgan, 21, of Oelwein. Morgan was arrested at 2nd Ave and 4.5 St SW on a Fayette County warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Assault.
