December 23 2018

On December 23, 2018 at 9:08 a.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to the 200 block of 1st ST NE for a reported Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

On December 23, 2018 at 9:26 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Tiffany Louise Watts, 31, of Oelwein.  Watts was arrested and charged with Operating while Intoxicated 1st Offense- Serious Misdemeanor.  Watts was also cited for Failure to Yield and No Insurance.  This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block of West Charles ST.

December 21, 2018

On December 21, 2018 at 00:54 a.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to the 900 block of 1st Avenue NW for a reported Criminal Mischief.  This incident remains under investigation.

On December 21, 2018 at 2:27 p.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to the 10 block of 20th ST SE for a reported Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

On December 21, 2018 at 5:38 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Brian Wendell Bass, 26, of Oelwein.  Bass was arrested and charged with Theft 5th Degree-Simple Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block of South Frederick Avenue.

 

 

 

 

Oelwein Police and High School Students Team up to Provide Food Baskets to Those in Need

Members of the Oelwein Police Department partnered with students from the Oelwein Senior High School to spread a little Christmas joy on Wednesday afternoon. Funds that were personally provided by an Oelwein Police Officer, were used to purchase baskets that were stocked with food to help families that may need a little extra help this holiday season. The Oelwein Senior High School students volunteered their time to help officers prepare and then deliver the baskets to twenty families in the community. “Our employees do a great job of serving our community in so many ways all year long and this project and partnership further displays our commitment to helping and being there for everyone in the community,” stated Chief Jeremy Logan. “It is projects like these that truly displays the compassion that our employees have for others.”

 

      

December 18, 2018

On December 17, 2018 at 6:40 p.m. Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block of South Frederick for a reported shoplifter.  Officers arrested Barbara Bernadette Swaggerty, age 52 of Oelwein, on charges of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, a Serious Misdemeanor and Theft 5th Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both Simple Misdemeanors.

Release: Multi-Jurisdictional Burglary Task Force Makes Arrest
A multi-jurisdictional burglary task force was formed after dozens of Northeast Iowa and Central Iowa communities had experienced numerous burglaries over the past several weeks. The Oelwein Police Department was a member of this task force and assisted with the investigation and subsequent arrest of the individual responsible for these burglaries.
On December 16, 2018, members of the burglary task force apprehended a subject, after the commission of a burglary. Jonathan Henry Martin, 35, of Waterloo; was arrested after committing a burglary to Town Mart, in Rudd, Iowa. Mr. Martin was taken into custody and held, pending a court appearance and charges from other jurisdictions, at the Floyd County Jail.
The Oelwein Police Department has charged Mr. Martin for a burglary that occurred on November 5, 2018, to Van Denover Jewelry in Oelwein. Jonathan Henry Martin has been charged with Burglary 3rd Degree for that incident.
“This arrest is a culmination of a great collaborative effort of over fifteen law enforcement jurisdictions. This subject committed burglaries that covered a variety of areas in Northeast Iowa as well as Central Iowa” states Chief Jeremy Logan. “Through great communication among agencies and the dedication of dozens of law enforcement officers, this person’s burglary spree has been put to an end.”
Mr. Martin is facing charges in a number of jurisdictions as this investigation continues.

On December 17, 2018 at 4:05 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Robert Steve Montes, 56, of Oelwein.  Montes was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault- Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed and incident in the 300 block of E Charles.

December 16, 2018

On December 16, 2018 at 1:20 p.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to the 100 block of 1st Avenue NW for a reported Theft.  This incident remains under investigation.

December 15, 2018

On December 15, 2018, 2018 at 10:03 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 100 block W Charles.  Officers cited Bennie Lamont Dillard, 52 years old of Waterloo for Driving While License Suspended.

December 11, 2018

 On December 11, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop on Outer Road.   Officers arrested Sarri Sue Danker, 56 years old of Fayette for 2nd Offense Operating while Intoxicated.

December 10,2018

On December 10, 2018 at 9:50 a.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to the 10 block of 1st Avenue NE for a reported burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

 

While on patrol at 8:05 p.m. on December 10, 2018 Oelwein Police checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 2600 block of Hwy 150 South.  Officers consequently arrested Tara Ann Scott, age 25 of Oelwein on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor.

 

On December 11,2018 at 3:45 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Chaz Franklin Euans for a Fayette County Sheriff's Warrant for Failure to Comply With a Court Order to Appear for Treatment.  Officers also charged Euans for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
