On October 10, 2019 at 5:16 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Jesse James Fischer, 47, of Fort Atkinson. James was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree-Class D Felony and Trespass-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block 1st AV NW
At 6:48 a.m. on October 10, 2019 Oelwein Officers were called to the 600 block of South Frederick for a report of a Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On October 10, 2019 at 1:28 p.m., in the 400 block of 13th AV NW, Oelwein Officers arrested John Eugene Kaub, age 33 of Oelwein, for a Fayette County Sheriff's Warrant, original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd.
At 2:12 p.m. on October 10, 2019 Oelwein Officers were called to the 300 block of 8th AV SE for a report of a Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On October 9, 2019 at 8:25 a.m., in the 200 block of 7th St SW, Oelwein Officers arrested Robert Joseph Rinella Jr, age 27 of Oelwein, for a Fayette County Sheriff's Warrant, original charge of Driving While License Suspended.
At 11:00 a.m. on October 9, 2019 Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block of 7th Avenue NE for a report of a burglary. This incident remains under investigation.
On October 7, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in the 400 block of 6th Street NE, Oelwein Officers arrested Aaron Lacy Conway, age 33, of Oelwein, for a State of Georgia Department of Pardons and Parole warrant, with an original charge of Aggravated Stalking.
Officers responded to the 400 block of South Frederick on October 7, 2019 at 11:40 p.m., for a reported disturbance. Officers arrested Carl Joseph Hernandez, age 47 of Oelwein, on a charge of Public Intoxication.
On October 7, 2019 at 12:42 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Kurtis Wayne Shasteen 35, of Oelwein. Shasteen was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant on an original charge of Theft 5th Degree. This arrest came after an incident in the 10 block of 1st ST SW.
On October 5, 2019 at 5:46 p.m. Oelwein Police arrested Shaina Marie Boehmer, 32 of Oelwein. Boehmer was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest took place after an incident in the 100 block South Frederick.
On October 5, 2019 at 5:46 p.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to 300 block 7th ST SE for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On September 27, 2019 Oelwein Officers cited Justin Daniel Kleppe, age 30 of Oelwein, for Failure to Abate as Ordered, a property in the 500 block of 4th Avenue SE. This citation stemmed from abatement served in July 2019
On September 26, 2019 at 11:09 a.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to 900 block South Frederick for a reported Criminal Mischief. This incident remains under investigation.
On September 26, 2019 at 12:44 p.m., Oelwein Police Officers responded to 900 block 5th AV SE for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On September 23, 2019 at 5:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a reported traffic accident in the 10 block of 1st Avenue NE. Officers arrested Jeffrey Tad Schuler, age 46, of Oelwein on a charge of OWI 1st, a Serious Misdemeanor.
On September 23, 2019 at 12:05 a.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Highways 150 and 12th ST SE. Officers cited Clayton Allen Bushaw age 23 of Waterloo, for Driving while License Suspended. Bushaw was also given a equipment repair order for a brake lamp.

Release: Robbery 2nd Degree – Arson 1st Degree – Interference With Official Acts
The Oelwein Police Department was called to a robbery in progress at the Cenex convenience store, 701 South Frederick. Upon arrival officers discovered that the suspect was still inside the building and that the suspect had started a fire inside the store.
The subject resisted officers as they attempted to take him into custody but was subsequently secured and transported from the scene.
Dion Lee Moore II, age 36, of Hazleton has been charged with:
Robbery 2nd Degree – Class C Felony Arson 1st Degree – Class B Felony Interference With Official Acts by Resisting Arrest – Simple Misdemeanor
The Oelwein Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire which left minor damage to the contents of the building.
The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), the Fayette County Sheriffs Department, the Buchanan County Sheriffs Department and the Oelwein Fire Department.
