On March 2, 2021 at 10:17 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 13^th AV NW for a report of Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

On March2, 2021 at 5:34 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Dakota Ray Vandermillen, 25, of Oelwein.  Vandermillen was arrested and charged with Assault on persons engaged in certain occupations- Serious Misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief 3^rd degree, Public Intoxication- Simple Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts- Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block S Frederick 

On March 1, 2021 at 3:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Frederick for a report of an intoxicated male.  Officers arrested Mario Joseph Pirillo, age 58, of Oelwein on a charge of Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor.

On February 28, 2021 at 3:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a domestic disturbance having occurred in the 300 block of 1st Av NW.  Officers arrested Brooke Renee Sommerfelt, age 31 of Oelwein, for Domestic Abuse Assault, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Charles and North Frederick at 17:32 P.M., on February 26, 2021. A city owned vehicle driven by Jay Perkins collided with a black 2020 Buick Encore owned by

On February 26, 2021 at 7:47 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Kimberli Jean  Giesbrecht, 46, of Oelwein.  Giesbrecht was arrested and charged Operating while Intoxicated-Serious Misdemeanor and Driving while Suspended-Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed traffic stop in the 10 block 2^nd ST NW

Oelwein Police are investigating an operating a motor vehicle without owners consent complaint.  Oelwein Police received a report at 10:20 A.M. on February 25, 2021 from the 1000 block of 2^nd ST NW.  The vehicle is described as a silver and black 1988 Chevrolet C1500..  The vehicle was later located .

On February 25, 2021 at 11:02 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 200 block 6th AV SE for a report of Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

On February 25, 2021 at 11:02 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 300 block 2nd AV NE for a report of Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

On February 25, 2021 at 2:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Isiah Dean Heidt, age 23 of Oelwein on a Fayette County Sheriff's warrant with original charges of Public Intoxication and Interference With Official Acts, both Simple Misdemeanor charges.  Heidt presented himself at the Oelwein Police Department to be served his arrest warrant.

On February 20, 2021 at 9:42 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Misty June Cook, 43, of Saint Lucas.  Cook was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts.  This arrest followed an incident in the 200 block 10^th ST SE

On February 19, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 600 block of West Charles for a two vehicle property damage accident.  Javontae Washington, driving a 2003 Chevy Impala, exited a private drive and struck a 2000 Buick Lesabre driven by Janet Klatt.  Washington was found to be at fault and was issued a written warning for Unsafe Entry onto a Roadway. 

Oelwein Officers arrested Anthony Allen Copley, age 34 of Oelwein, on February 19, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.  Copley was arrested on Fayette County Sheriff's warrants for original charges of Violation of Pre-trial Supervision, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, and 2 counts of Driving While Suspended.

Release: Search Warrant Executed – Arrests Made

     The Oelwein Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department executed a search
warrant at 216 6th Avenue SE in Oelwein on February 19, 2021. Officers located and seized drug
paraphernalia and marijuana.
     Oelwein Police have arrested and charged the following:

     Dustin Christian Staley – Age 47

with the intent to deliver.

of a school.

Mr. Staley was transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. The Oelwein
Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Independence Police
K-9 Unit, the Iowa Department of Human Services, and the Oelwein Community Development Department.
Additional charges are pending.

On February 21, 2021 at 1:23 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Richard Jake Woods, age 25 of Oelwein, for a 3x Harding County Warrants.

After a multi-month narcotics investigation, on February 16, 2021, members of the Oelwein Police  Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Division Narcotics  Enforcement made several arrests and conducted search warrants in the city of Oelwein.  

Search warrants were conducted at 107 7th Avenue N.W. and also 221 3rd Avenue SE in Oelwein.  Additionally, related to this joint investigation, teams of officers located and apprehended a  number of other individuals on arrest warrants throughout the community. The following subjects  have been arrested and are awaiting initial appearances on their charges. 

Justin Michael Buehler, age 37 was arrested for a U.S. Marshall arrest  

warrant and for new charges of eluding, driving while license revoked  

and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Julie Ann Johnson AKA Julie Ann Evans, age 39, arrested on a warrant for  

Delivery of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine Class C Felony 

Jennifer Lee Krum AKA: Jennifer Lee Bagg, age 28, arrested on a warrant  

for Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine - Class C 

Felony 

Jeffery Eugene Euans, age 60, arrested for Possession of a Controlled  

Substance with the Intent to Deliver - Methamphetamine - Class B  

Felony, Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used - Class D  

Felony, Drug Tax Stamp Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance 

Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Medication.  

Ronald Allen McLaury, age 52, Gathering Where Controlled Substances  are Used – Class D Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

Nancy Sheree Latham, age 41, Possession of a Controlled Substance with  the Intent to Deliver – Methamphetamine – Class B Felony, Gathering  Where Controlled Substances are Used - D Felony, Drug Tax Stamp  Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana, Unlawful  Possession of a Prescription Medication.  

George David Kirkbride, age 52, Warrant for Delivery of a Controlled  Substance – Methamphetamine – Class C felony. 

Vanessa Lynn Smith, age 36, Warrant for Delivery of a Controlled  Substance – Methamphetamine – Class C Felony, Possession of a  Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled  Substance – Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Matthew Wade Stacey, age 26, arrested for Possession of a Controlled  Substance - Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Also, Stacey was arrested for a Buchanan County warrant for  Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
