On December 9, 2016 at 7:56 am Oelwein Police Department responded to a two vehicle collision at 2nd st and 12th Av Se in Oelwein. When officers arrived on the scene it was determined that Dwane Leonard Lightfoot from Oelwein was operating a 1995 Dodge Caravan which collided with Laurie Lynn Bunn from Oelwein who was operating a 2012 Subaru Forester.
On December 5, 2016 at 1:15 p.m., in the 300 block of 1st Av NE, Oelwein Officers arrested Seth Lee Rohrick, age 20 of Oelwein for 2 Fayette County Warrants, with original charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. Rohrick was also booked on an Oelwein Police Department charge of Interference With official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. Also arrested during this incident was Nathaniel Jeffery Rohrick, age 24 of Oelwein, on an Oelwein Police Department charge of Interference With Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor.
At 5:33 p.m., on December 4th 2016 Oelwein Police arrested Dakota Andrew Veber, 20, of Oelwein. Veber was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant on an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault. This arrest followed Officer Interaction with the subject at the Oelwein Police Department.
At 10:24 p.m., on December 4th 2016, Oelwein Police arrested Cathy Lynn Wright, 57, of Oelwein. Wright was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 400 block of 5th AV NE.
On December 3, 2016 at 9:06 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Tyler John Kelly, 19, of Cedar Rapids; Kelly was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana-Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed officer interaction in 600 block of South Frederick.
Oelwein Police are investigating a criminal mischief complaint. Oelwein Police received a report of criminal mischief at 7:50 a.m., on November 29, 2016 in the 200 block 1st st ne. This incident remains under investigation.
Oelwein Police Department Media Release Oelwein Police Make Arrests in Counterfeit Money Operation: The Oelwein Police Department has made arrests in relation to an investigation that involved the illegal manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit money. On November 26, 2016, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 10 block of 6th Street NW. Officers seized items used to manipulate currency, printers, items used to manufacture currency, counterfeit currency and illegal drugs from the residence. Officers also went to a residence in the 10 block of 2nd Avenue NW where they located and seized nearly $4,000 in counterfeit currency. Oelwein Police have arrested the following persons in reference to this investigation: Forrest Shane Spitzer, 41, of Oelwein – Fraudulent Practices, Class D Felony & Possession of controlled substances, Serious Misdemeanor Michael Melvern Miller, 21, Oelwein – Fraudulent Practices, Class D Felony & Theft of Lottery Tickets, Class D Felony. The investigation continues with further arrests and charges pending.
On November 28, 2016 at 9:20 p.m., Oelwein Police were called to the 300 block of 1st Avenue NE for a reported domestic issue. Officers arrested Barbara Bernadette Swaggerty, age 50 of Oelwein on a charge of Violation of No Contact Order.
On November 26, 2016 at 5:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 300 block of 1st Avenue NE for a reported domestic situation. Officers arrested Barbara Bernadette Swaggerty, age 50, of Oelwein for a Violation of No Contact Order, Simple Misdemeanor.
On November 19, 2016 at 12:15 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Robert Henry Amen, 51, of Oelwein. Amen was arrested on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 10 block of 4th St Nw.
On November 18, 2016 Oelwein Officers issued a citation for Failure to Abate Per Order in the 100 block of 4th Avenue SW, to Samantha Rayeliyn Polan, age 28, of Oelwein.
On November 17, 2016 at 11:45 p.m., in the 500 block of 1st Street NE, Oelwein Police arrested Donald Eugene Latham, age 59 of Oelwein, on a Fayette County Warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Public Intoxication.
