On November 10th, 2021 the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant at 306 8th Ave. SW.  Officers searched the home, belonging to Justin James Gallmeyer, 38, and located several firearms.  Gallmeyer is prohibited from possessing firearms as he is a convicted felon.  As a result of the search warrant, Gallmeyer was charged with felon in control of a firearm/ammunition and possession of drug paraphernalia.  This case is still under investigation and more charges may be filed.  The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

At 11:44 a.m. on November 9th, 2021, Oelwein police arrested Joshua Freedom Smith, 42, of Dubuque. Smith was arrested in the 2500 block of South Frederick on a Clayton County warrant for original charges of Burglary 3rd, Possession of Firearm by a Felon, and Theft 1st.

At 11:35 p.m. on November 8th, 2021, Oelwein Police arrested Kody Allen Letts, 30, of Oelwein. Letts was arrested in the 400 block of East Charles on Fayette County warrants for original charges of Failure to Appear and Interference with Official Acts.

At 5:04 p.m. on November 6th, 2021, Oelwein Police arrested Rita Kay Dugan, 57, of Oelwein. Dugan was arrested on charges of Eluding, Interference with Official Acts, and No Drivers License (motorcycle endorsement). This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of West Charles.

At 7:24 p.m. November 5th, 2021, Oelwein Police arrested Ralph DeAngelo Barron, 54, of Postville. Barron was arrested on a charge of Driving While License Suspended. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 10th Ave NW in Oelwein.

At 8:26 p.m. on November 2nd, 2021, Oelwein Police arrested Aaron Frank Bryant-Wright, 40, of Oelwein. Bryant-Wright was arrested on charges of Operating Under the Influence (3rd Offense) - felony, Eluding (speed over 25 over limit) - aggravated misdemeanor, and Driving While License Revoked - serious misdemeanor. This arrest was made after a citizens report of a vehicle that left the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 150 and East Charles St in Oelwein. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Independence Police Department.

At 11:57 p.m. on October 29th,2021, Oelwein Police arrested Ashley Ann Ackerman, 27, of Oelwein. Ackerman was arrested in the 400 block of East Charles on a Buchanan County warrant for Failure to Appear for original charges of possession of controlled substance - 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license revoked.

On October 27, 2021 at 3:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of 13th Avenue NW in Oelwein.  Officers cited and released Jammie Allen Aldrich, age 34 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Suspended and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

On October 25, 2021 at 4:55 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the intersection of East Charles and 1st Avenue SE for a reported motor vehicle accident.  Unit 1, a black 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Taggart James Kite, at a red light on East Charles Street proceeded to turn Southbound on hwy 150, failing to yield the right of way to on coming traffic.  Unit 2, a 2008 Ford F250, driven by Adam Dean Rahe, travelling southbound on hwy 150, struck the Pontiac in the area of the rear driver's side tire.  Unit 1 was found to be at fault.  No injuries were reported at the scene. 

On October 25, 2021 at 3:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 300 block of 5th Avenue SW in Oelwein.  Officers arrested Tyler Nicole Slater, age 19, of Independence on a charge of Driving While License Suspended.  Slater was also cited for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

Oelwein Officers responded to the 10 block of 2nd St NW on October 25, 2021 at 7:15 p.m. for a reported disturbance.  Officers arrested James Thomas Allen, age 53 of Oelwein for Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.

On October 25, 2021 at 9:05 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 600 block of 3rd Av SE in Oelwein.  Trenton James Husted, age 33 of Oelwein was cited into court on a charge of Driving While License Suspended.
