February 6,2024

At 4:31pm on February 5, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Trenton James Husted, 36, of Oelwein.  Husted was arrested on multiple Fayette County warrants for original charges of two Violations of Probation and Failure to Appear for a charge of two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana 1st Offense and Methamphetamine 1st Offense) - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 7th Ave NW.

 

At 10:57pm on February 5, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Ashley Marie Bolton, 37, of Oelwein.  Bolton was arrested on two Fayette County warrants for original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 600 block of 4th Ave SW.

February 4,2024

At 2:38am on February 3, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Adam James Nielsen, 39, of Oelwein.  Nielsen was charged with Violation of a No Contact Order - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a report that Nielsen was violating the No Contact Order in the 700 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 1:53am on February 4, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested John Paul Krogmann, 19, of Lamont.  Krogmann was charged with Driving While License Suspended - Simple Misdemeanor.  Krogmann was cited and released following a traffic stop in the 100 block of E Charles St.

January 31,2024

At 7:46pm on January 30, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Michael William Bushaw, 33, of Oelwein.  Bushaw was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault - Serious Misdemeanor.  Upon arrest Bushaw received additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or Subsequent Offense - Class D Felony, Driving While Barred - Aggravated Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor, and Violation of a No Contact/Protective Order - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of W Charles St after officers initiated a traffic stop upon spotting Bushaw and knowing of the warrant for his arrest.

January 26,2024

At 11:09am on January 23, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested John Norman Klink, 29, of Oelwein and Kaitlin Rose Perez, 23, of Oelwein.  Both were charged with Animal Neglect (No Injury) - Simple Misdemeanor.  Both were cited and released in the 700 block of 7th Ave NE following reports of animal neglect.

 

At 1:23pm on January 23, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 14-year-old male juvenile of Oelwein.  The juvenile was charged with Minor Using Tobacco or Vapor Products 1st Offense.  The juvenile was cited and released in the 300 block of 8th Ave SE following a report of a student using a vape pen.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

January 23,2024

At 4:30pm on January 22, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile, a 14-year-old male juvenile, and a 14-year-old female juvenile.  The 16-year-old male and 14-year-old female were charged with Minor Using Tobacco or Vapor Product - 1st offense, and the 14-year-old male was charged with Minor Using Tobacco or Vapor Product - 2nd offense.  All three juveniles were cited and released following reports of students using vape pens.  These cases will be referred to Juvenile Court.

January 22,2024

At 1:13am on January 22, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Jason Micheal Roepke, 44, of Oelwein.  Roepke was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 2nd Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place in the 100 block of 7th St SE following a traffic stop.

January 21,2024

At 9:11am on January 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Michael James Kirschbaum, 37, of West Union.  Kirschbaum was arrested on a charge of Driving While Barred.  This arrest was made after officers responded to a vehicle accident in the 800 block of Rock Island Rd.

 

At 9:22am on January 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was arrested on a charge of Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a report of suspected underage possession of alcohol by a student in the 300 block of 8th Ave SE.  The juvenile was released to their guardian and the case has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 2:29pm on January 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile.  The juvenile was cited and released on a charge of Minor Using Tobacco/Vapor Product.  The juvenile was cited following a report of a student caught with a vape pen in the 300 block of 8th Ave SE.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 4:00pm on January 19, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Andrew James Kleitsch, 39, of Oelwein.  Kleitsch was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for Violation of Parole.  This arrest was made in the 10 block of 5th St NW.

January 18,2024

At 10:08am on January 17, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Aubree Nanceegail Laura Maytas, 26, of Oelwein.  Maytas was arrested on a charge of Theft 4th Degree - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a report of shoplifting in the 200 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 11:19pm on January 17, 2024 Oelwein police arrested Tyffanie Shaiann Bourland, 25, of Oelwein.  Bourland was arrested on a charge of Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Industrial Park Rd.  Bourland was cited and released at the conclusion of the stop.

January 17,2024

At 11:06pm on January 15, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Sergio Valdez, 37, of Oelwein.  Valdez was arrested on charges of Burglary 1st Degree - Class B Felony, two counts of Willful Injury causing Bodily Injury - Class D Felony, and Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a report of an armed break-in of a home in the 20 block of 5th St NW.  The two victims were transported to Mercy ER with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

At 1:54pm on January 16, 2024 Oelwein Police arrested Johnathan Edward Greene, 30, of Esterville.  Greene was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Failure to Appear for an original charge of Driving While License Barred.  During the arrest Greene received an additional charge of Interference With Official Acts - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 700 block of 7th Ave NE.

Two Southwest Search Warrants Executed - Arrests Made
 
 
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 100 block of 6th St. SW in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subject was arrested and charged:
 
1) Tina Marie Nichols, 55 of Oelwein:
Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp- Class D Felony
Possession of Marijuana 1st offense- - Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Methamphetamine 1st offense- Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Oxycodone 1st offense - Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 1st offense - Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Simple Misdemeanor
 
 
At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 300 block of 7th Ave. SW in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subjects have been arrested and charged:
 
1) Brad Everett Drewelow, 57 of Oelwein:
Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd or subsequent offense- D Felony
Possession of Marijuana 3rd or subsequent offense- D Felony
Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used - D Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor
 
2) Darrell Lee Lathum, 58 of Oelwein:
Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd or subsequent offense- D Felony
Possession of Marijuana 3rd or subsequent offense- D Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor
The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and these cases are still under investigation. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Fayette Police K-9 Unit and the Independence Police Department.
