The City of Oelwein has declared a snow emergency. The snow emergency will remain in effect until 5:00 pm Monday, December 24th. No vehicles should be left parked on emergency snow routes or will be subject to tow.
According to City Ordinance 22-101: Parking vehicles on alternate sides of streets after snowstorms. After a snowstorm and publication of notice in the news media, any vehicles parked on streets or avenues shall not be on the streets or avenues on which houses bearing even numbered addresses on even days of the calendar are located, on the first night and the following day, and shall not be on the side of such streets and avenues on which houses bearing off numbered addresses on odd numbered days of the calendar are located, on the second night and following day, and on alternate sides thereafter until the snow is removed.
