On September 3, 2010, at 10:20 p.m., during a routing patrol, Oelwein Officers came upon a verbal disagreement occurring in the 100 block of South Frederick in Oelwein. As a result of the incident, Officers arrested and charged Charles William Neubauer, age 51, of Oelwein with Enhanced Public Intoxication, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On September 2nd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the intersection of West Charles and North Frederick in Oelwein for a reported suspicious person. Upon arrival, Officers arrested Christopher Kelly Wilkerson, age 22, of Oelwein for Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor.
At 10:39 pm on September 1, 2010 Oelwein Police arrested Brett Allen Hovatter, 28, of Oelwein. Hovatter was arrested on a charge of Assault causing Bodily Injury a Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made after a disturbance was reported in the 400 blk East Charles St.

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 200 blk 7th St SE at 10:33am on September 1, 2010. A 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by William Huxford collided with a 2005 Silver Buick Park Avenue driven by Jean Rechkemmer.

Oelwein Police Make Arrests in Ongoing Drug Investigation
The Oelwein Police Department has made criminal arrests in relation to an ongoing illegal drug investigation.
On August 24, 2010, the Oelwein Police Department arrested Richard Lee Spooner, 44, of Waterloo, Iowa and Brandy Laren Angell, 31, of Waterloo, Iowa. Richard Spooner has been charged with Conspiracy To Deliver Methamphetamine – Class C Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Brandy Angell has been charged with Conspiracy to Deliver Methamphetamine – Class C Felony and Driving While License Revoked.
On August 25, 2010, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 100 block of West Charles. As a result of the investigation and the search warrant, George Kirn Laurie Jr., 23, Oelwein, was arrested and has been charged with Delivery of Methamphetamine within 1000’ of school property – Class C Felony. Further charges are pending. Also, during the search warrant, police arrested and charged Kenneth Eugene Crook, 40, of Oelwein; with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 900 blk South Frederick Ave at 9:42 am on August 31, 2010. A 1997 Ford Pickup driven by Timothy Widmann collided with a White 1995 International Pickup driven by James Buehler. The Oelwein Police were assisted by Mercy Oelwein Ambulance.
On August 29, 2010 at midnight, Oelwein Officers responded to an incident in the 400 block of 1st Street NE. Officers investigated a report of damage to a vehicle, which resulted in the arrest of Christopher Lee Becker, age 27, of Oelwein, on a charge of Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
At 1:51 am on August 28, 2010 Oelwein Police arrested Kenneth Alan Duwe, 29, of Independence. Duwe was arrested on a charge of Enhanced Public Intoxication an Aggravated Misdemeanor. This arrest was made after a disturbance was reported in the 100 blk South Frederick Ave.

On August 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers executed a routine traffic stop in the 200 block of 7th St SE, in Oelwein. The stop resulted in the arrest of Harold Arthur Loyd III, age 18, of Arlington on charges of Driving While License Suspended and Interference With Official Acts, both Simple Misdemeanors.
At approximately midnight on 08-22-10, while on routine patrol, Oelwein Police came upon a disturbance in the 100 block of South Frederick. Consequently, 35 year old Henry Arnold Markin of Independence was arrested and charged with public intoxication a simple misdemeanor and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
On 08-22-10 Oelwein Police arrested Michael John McAllister, 27 of Oelwein charging him with first offense operating while intoxicated. This is a serious misdemeanor.
Daniel Lee Bantz, 35 of Oelwein was arrested on 8-21-10 at 2345 and charged with third offense operating while intoxicated and child endangerment. Both are Class D Felonies.
